Operate with broker-level permissions in SmartMLS Sign

Permissions within SmartMLS Sign are based directly on your user type on the MLS. If you are a Manager, Admin or the designated Broker for your office within SmartMLS membership records, you automatically have access to functionality that normal agent-level users lack (such as the ability to add templates for your entire office).

However, even if you do not have a managerial-level user type (you are a regular agent, for instance), there are still a couple of ways you can enjoy enhanced permissions within the signing tool.

One way is for you to go through the process of changing your MLS user type. (Note: if you need to adjust your MLS user type, please contact the SmartMLS membership department and they will guide you through the steps that are necessary to make this change).

Another option, which does not involve changing your MLS user type, is to have a manager/admin/designated broker in your office grant you assistant permissions within connectMLS (click here for detailed instructions). When you impersonate someone in the MLS, you are accessing the system as them and operating with the same permissions they possess.

After you've been granted permission to impersonate a manager/admin/designated broker within the MLS system, their inherited additional permissions carry over to SmartMLS Sign. And it is all done from your own login.

If you are the broker/manager/admin of your office and have already given an agent assistant permissions in Connect, you may want to review the different functions that are available to them to operate as you. You can allow the assistant to operate with your permissions in some areas and prevent them from doing so in others.

Click your photo/initials in the top right corner of Connect, then click My Settings:

Go to Personal Information> Manage assistants and agents I allow to impersonate me:

Click the 2026-03-03_16-17-44.jpg icon to the right of the desired assistant:

Use the Allow/Block radio button to select the individual permissions you'd like to grant to the assistant:

You can get very granular when setting up these permissions. For instance, if you only want this assistant to inherit your permissions within SmartMLS Sign, set everything to Block except for the Signings option (at the bottom of the list):
