When adding contacts to the SmartMLS Sign platform, you must provide (at minimum) their first name, last name and email address:
There are many other fields that you can also populate for your contact, but they are not required.
You may run into a situation where two contacts for the same transaction prefer to use the same email address. SmartMLS Sign allows for this to occur, but there can be an unexpected downside to this.
In the process of creating a signing, if two signers have the same email address you will see a red error message in the bottom right corner:
If you encounter this issue, all you need to do is edit one (or both) of the signers and add a unique phone number to their contact record. This 2-factor authentication enables the system to accomodate situations where a couple involved in a transaction share an email address by using the phone number field as a unique identifier.
Click the edit icon to the right of the signer to open their details screen:
Click the edit icon in their Phone field:
Enter a unique phone number and click the green Save button:
Click the green OK button at the bottom of the window. That will bring you back to the document and you should be able to continue creating the signing.
